G56 Fluid Capacity
The G56 transmission typically uses approximately 5–6 quarts when filled using the factory side fill plug, depending on model year, service procedure, and how completely the transmission has been drained.

Many G56 owners—particularly those running aftermarket clutches, towing heavy loads, or operating modified trucks—choose to run approximately 7 quarts total to increase the amount of lubricant available to the transmission and help reduce gear rollover noise.

Because the factory side fill plug will normally begin overflowing before 7 quarts can be added, an additional fill method may be required for an overfill configuration.
